June 14, 2022Kakek dan Nenek – Hari ini untukmu
August 2, 2022As a response for the need of the Church, in spreading the Good News for the people, we as a community taking active participation in the pastoral ministries of St. Teresia Parish in Jambi. Beside visiting the families, the sicks, and the elderly, the parish also asking us to lead the Liturgy of the Word on Sundays, Christmas, and Holy week especially in small Christian community in the country side (in Indonesia we call it “Stasi”).
Most of the ‘Stasi’ are little far from the Parish. It takes 2 or 3 hours from Jambi, sometime more than that. If it is raining season the car finds difficult to move, the roads are full of mud, slippery, and in left or right side is ravine or clift. Sometime we serve 3 or 4 stasi. The distance from one stasi to the others is one to two hours.
For this year (2022), The Parish give us a regular schedule in each month. During the Holy Week last April, we were helping in Stasi Lagan, Sabak, and Petaling. Stasi Lagan and Sabak are in the same direction. From Stasi Lagan to Stasi Sabak Indah, it takes 1 hour. Sisters Berna and Yuli are helping there, while Sr. Meyly in Stasi Petaling.
Besides leading the “Liturgy of the Word”, we were also visiting the elderly, the sicks, and those who really need our presence. On Sunday morning, we had a Catechism class for the Children. They were very happy and asking us to come back. They also told us, if it is possible to have a regular visit to their place.
For them our presence and services are a blessings from God. It is also an opportunity for them to know about the religious life in the Catholic Church. Our presence helps them to deepen their faith in God and feel the presence of the Church among them. On the other hand, for us as FMM, it is a blessed opportunity and a valuable opportunity to response to God’s call. God has called us to be presence among His people and show His face of love. It is also a chance to listen and to understand them. It is an opportunity to learn, to find God, to touch, and to feel His presence among the people. It is also in line to our vision and mission.
