Adventure with God in Bau Bau, South East Sulawesi

Praise and thanksgiving to God for granted me the opportunity through the sector leaders: Srs Elizabeth Tan B.L. (Malaysia-Singapore), and Bernadeta B. Juliati and Vera Sihombing (Indonesia) to have a community experience in Baubau, South East Sulawesi. I also thank our sisters in Marie de la Passion community Srs. Margaretha Lina (the animator), Theresia Goru, Elizabeth Dowa and Calcelia Setia (a Temporary Professed). They had welcomed me with a warm heart in their midst for 3 weeks. My experience there was so rich yet it was only a tiny taste of God’s goodness and presence in South East Sulawesi.

My journey began with a two hours flight from Jakarta to Makassar. Then, I continued with a 16 hours voyage with a ship crossed the open sea to Baubau. Coming back, I took the same route but together with Srs. Liz and Celi. The voyage with a ship was truly an unforgettable experience for me as it was my first voyage and I had never travelled to the East part of Indonesia also. That short voyage opened my eyes to the reality of the many people from the East side of Indonesia. Being on board with about 1000 people at the same time, was really something. There was this sense of oneness. The ship I took to come back was even bigger, it carried around 2000 people at one time!
