Membangun Karakter Melalui Kebersamaan
June 25, 2024Persiapan Rohani untuk Yubileum 150 Tahun Tarekat Fransiskan Misionaris Maria
September 23, 2024FFM Indonesia – “I offer my life for the Church and the salvation of the world…”
This is one of the profound statements of self-offering in the formula of our perpetual profession of vows. It sounds heroic, as it should be. The farther a missionary is from her homeland, the closer she is to Jesus (Mary of the Passion).
This total self-offering is made with full awareness and freedom, abandoning oneself and everything that is comfortable or enjoyable for the sake of a great mission with God—the salvation of souls.
On Saturday, 15 June 2024, we, FMM Indonesia, were graced with the celebration of three significant occasions: the 60th anniversary of religious life of Sr. Catherine Kae, FMM, and Sr. Mariana Ngole, FMM; the 25th anniversary of religious life of Sr. Yuliana Leli, FMM, Sr. Ina Nadu, FMM, and Sr. Veronica Wunu, FMM; and the solemn perpetual profession of vows of Sr. Oktafiana Jehanut, FMM, and Sr. Andriana Esti Setyawati, FMM.
The Eucharistic celebration was held at Kristus Salvator Parish Church, Slipi, Palmerah, West Java, presided over by His Eminence Ignatius Cardinal Suharyo Hardjoatmodjo, with concelebrants Rev. Fr. Daniel Nahak, OFM, Rev. Fr. Cosmas Malissa, CICM, Rev. Fr. Michael Gabra Santrio, OFM, and Rev. Fr. Aster Ladon from Mbay, Diocese of Ende, Flores.
The chosen theme was “Stay with Us…” (Luke 24:29). Like the two disciples on the road to Emmaus, our experiences of disappointment, sadness, despair, or even anger can often close our eyes and hearts, making us unable to see God, who is present and walking with us. “Oh, how foolish you are! How slow of heart to believe…” (Luke 24:25).
Jesus’ stern rebuke awakened the disciples to God’s presence among them. This encounter transformed them, filling them with zeal to proclaim God’s resurrection.
Sometimes, we need reprimand or criticism to realize that God is always near. Our task is to invite Him every day: “…stay with us, Lord!”
It is also significant that these three special occasions are celebrated this year when the Franciscan family marks the 800th anniversary of the stigmata of St. Francis of Assisi.
For us, this is an invitation to become more and more Franciscan by loving and uniting more closely with Christ.
Self-offering as a Franciscan Missionary of Mary means being ready to go anywhere we are sent to continue Mary’s Mission—giving Jesus to the world. Nothing is too difficult because God is here and stays with us.
Love and union with Jesus provide the strength and power to fulfill our promises with all our heart, offering our lives for the Church and the salvation of the world.
