The catechumens also shared their own faith

journeys and reasons for choosing to become Catholic.
Some initially began their journey because their future
spouse is Catholic, but over time they came to realize
that entering the Catholic Church was truly their own
free and personal choice. Others shared that their
decision came from a deep personal desire after a long
spiritual search. Despite facing opposition from family
members or others, they found peace and comfort in Praying for and encouraging one another

choosing to become Catholic.
This encounter became a moment of mutual
enrichment—an exchange of faith, stories, and hope. It
strengthened the catechumens in their journey toward
baptism and reminded the FMM sisters of the beauty of
vocation and the many ways God calls His people.

FMM Retreat 2025: Learning God’s Way of Communication through Sacred Scripture

In 2025, the Franciscan Missionaries of Mary
(FMM) held their annual retreat at the Ursuline
Retreat House in Bandung. The retreat was
conducted in two groups: the first in July 10 – 17,
2025 and the second in September 29 – October 6,
2025 allowing the sisters to participate in an
atmosphere of prayer, reflection, and spiritual
renewal.The retreat was guided by Rev. Fr. G. Tri

Wardoyo, CM, who led the participants to deepen
their understanding of the theme: Pray and share reflections
with each other
“The Way God Communicates in Sacred Scripture
and Its Implications for the Life of an FMM
Religious.”
Through biblical reflection, Fr. Tri invited the
sisters to learn from the experiences of key figures
in Scripture, such as the prophet Jonah, King David,
Nathan, and the Apostle Peter. These figures reveal
that God communicates in many ways—through
calls, challenges, corrections, and moments of
personal encounter. God’s communication often
leads His chosen ones beyond their comfort zones
toward conversion, obedience, and mission.
