Canonical Visitation of Sr. Judith Yuen, FMM
Trinity Region Superior, to the Indonesia Sector
The Canonical Visitation of Sr. Judith, Superior
of the FMM Trinity Region, to the Indonesia Sector
was a meaningful moment of encounter, listening, and
renewal. This visitation was her first canonical visitation
to Indonesia since her appointment as Trinity Region
Superior. It took place from late July until early
October.
The visitation began with visits to four FMM
communities on the island of Flores. Sr. Judith was
warmly welcomed with local cultural expressions,
including the traditional Jai dance of Bajawa, reflecting
the joy, hospitality, and richness of the local culture.
In Bajawa, Sr. Judith took part in the Eucharistic
celebration for the blessing and inauguration of the
newly rebuilt FMM convent, replacing the old building
that had been demolished due to its age and condition.
This celebration became a sign of renewal, hope, and
continued mission. As Scripture reminds us,
“See, I am making all things new.” (Revelation 21:5)
After Flores, Sr. Judith continued her visitation to
the communities on Java Island. Due to her ankle not
yet fully healed, the visits to the Baubau and Jambi
communities were conducted online via Zoom. Despite
these limitations, the meetings remained meaningful
spaces of sharing and communion.
During the visits to Bogor, Jakarta, and Serang, the
visitation took place amid a challenging national
situation. Large-scale public demonstrations were
occurring in many cities across Indonesia due to public
dissatisfaction with government policies. This situation
created certain discomfort, yet it also invited deeper
reflection on the mission of the Sisters in responding to
social realities with faith, compassion, and commitment
to justice and peace.
In addition to personal and community meetings,
Sr.Judith met with various teams, including the
Formation Team, Communication Team, and JPIC
Team, as well as Sisters involved in education and
healthcare ministries.
